Description
One of the most destructive pests of apple and pear trees is the codling moth. It has the potential to inflict severe harm to orchards and gardens in a relatively short period of time. Codling moths are nocturnal, and its larvae eat into the interior of the fruit, digging a path to the seed nest while contaminating it. Following development, the bug exits the apple, causing the fruit to ripen prematurely and fall.
The Mastertrap pheromone trap is specifically designed to catch Cydia Pomonella. Codling moths attracted by the pheromone enter the trap through 6 specific holes and attach to the glue-covered surface of the trap. The trap is safe for birds thanks to the plastic, external protection, and it also operates just on codling moths, with no effect on other insects. The trap should be used from the beginning of May to the end of August , because the second generation of insects appears in the summer.
